Welcome to the island of Trinity, one of the most magical places and best-kept secrets on Earth. It is a small island nation located 22 miles off the coast of the Bahia region of modern Brazil, a country steeped in richly festive traditions and plagued by political turmoil.
Currently under the dictatorial rule of "Duke" Solinus, Trinity is in the midst of a bloody conflict with the nearby isle of Syracuse. This conflict has recently escalated to the point where no Syracusian, for fear of immediate execution, dares to set foot in Trinity.
Hence begins one of Shakespeareís most hilarious comedies of all times. Egeon, a Syracusian, falls in the middle of the street in Trinity and pleads for his life in a speech that goes on forever, while Carnival revelers, as the Dukeís back is turned away, mimic the story behind him. The Duke, pretending to spare his life, gives him 24 hours to find money for his bail. From beginning to end, the story is a maze of errors and confusion, until the last moment when everything is all pieced together in true Shakespeare style.
