With elections less than a week away, the current government is this Carribean nation" a struggling, infant democracy" is threatened by the growing power of the PLP: communist opposition party, secretly backed by Communist Cuba.
Brian Hunter, known publicly as the dashing and charming ace photo-journalist of the nation's largest newspaper, is actually the team leader of a secret government task force of the democracy, a paramilitary group, trained to serve the country through crisis prevention and intervention. Brian uncovers the PLPís coup plans, yet mysteriously meets violent resistance from his superiors when he attempts to disarm the coup, its leaders and to expose the true dangers of the PLPís subversive politics.
Brian, blocked by all official channels, chooses the power of words over the power of weapons, using his alias as reporter to expose the coup. Now, with friends few and enemies everywhere, Brian must reach and convince key political leaders of the impending coup before he is killed by the PLP or his own government forces.
