The story starts out twenty years ago in the San Fernando Valley with the high school graduation of three close friends (two white, one black) that are semi-burnouts and practical jokers.
They make a pact under serious financial penalty and public embarrassment to maintain their irreverent senses of humor twenty years from now by secretly writing "dares" for each other that each will have to perform twenty years from now. They seal the dares in envelopes and give them to the class dork that they have picked on unmercifully for years. His job is to dispatch these envelopes to the three friends twenty years from now.
